On Saturday, Feb. 5, two students at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will be crowned the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen.
The crowning will take place during halftime ceremonies of the annual homecoming basketball game between the Grizzlies and the Three Rivers College Raiders from Poplar Bluff.
The game will get underway at 7 p.m. in Joe Paul Evans Arena at the West Plains Civic Center.
King candidates include:
- Kole Brower, Mountain View, sponsored by Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)
- Logan Brewer, Ozark, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA)
- Dalton Dzurick, Houston, sponsored by the Campus Influencers/Ambassadors
- Logan Thompson, Iberia, sponsored by Christian Campus House (CCH)
- Jackson Wright, West Plains, sponsored by the Grizzly Cheer Team
- Merritt Silva, West Plains, sponsored by College Republicans
Queen candidates are:
- Riley Gilmore, Bragg City, sponsored by the Grizzly Cheer Team
- Kaylynn Newberry, West Plains, sponsored by Campus Influencers/Ambassadors
- Christin Gayer, Mansfield, sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa
- Cheyenne Cavitt, West Plains, sponsored by the PBL
- Madison Kaufman, St. Peters, sponsored by SGA
- Dora Cardoza, West Plains, sponsored by CCH
Also in attendance will be the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen, Jefferson Thomas, Houston, and Morgan Blanck, Willow Springs.
Organizers said the 2022 king and queen will be crowned by Thomas and Blanck, respectively, and the queen will receive flowers from Chancellor Dennis Lancaster.
