An update on activities at the Garnett Library will be the topic of the April 8 meeting of the Friends of the Garnett Library.
Rebekah McKinney, director of library services, will give the presentation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the group will dedicate a bench placed on the lawn in front of the library in memory of Sylvia Kuhlmeier, who was director of library services from 2009-2019.
Anniversary celebration
In addition, members will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their organization. Formed in 1992 shortly after the opening of the Garnett Library, the Friends organization provides a valuable link between the community and the university in helping to raise awareness of the services offered by the library and its needs.
The meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Garnett Library. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the library off Trish Knight Street.
Masking is encouraged, organizers said, adding masks will be available at the door.
Cost of the box lunch is $10, payable at the door. Those wishing to eat should make a reservation by calling 417-255-7940 or emailing FriendsofGarnettLibrary@MissouriState.edu by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 6.
