Members of the Friends of the Garnett Library celebrated one of their own Friday, Sept. 9, when they presented a plaque to long-time member Dennis Lancaster, center, during their first meeting of the academic year at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP).

A Friends member since the group’s inception in 1992, Lancaster has actively participated in the group’s meetings and volunteered at its many events over the years. Earlier this year, he was named MSU-WP chancellor.

The plaque, presented by Friends president Janet McClure and member Kay Garrett, read “From Dishwasher for the Friends of the Garnett Library Chili Supper to Chancellor in Thirty Years. Congratulations from the Friends of the Garnett Library.”
