The ASCEND Program will be the topic of the Friends of the Garnett Library meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 11.
The group will meet in rooms 104 and 105 of the Lybyer Technology Center on the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) campus. ASCEND Program Director Mikala King will give the presentation, organizers said.
The ASCEND (Autism Support Can Empower New Directions) Program helps students with autism transition into college and toward a life of personal success and independence. The program, which is the first of its kind in this region, offers specialized support services to students so they can successfully navigate a traditional college path and reach personally chosen goals.
Parking will be available in the lot on the north side of the building off Cass Avenue. Masking is optional, organizers said.
Cost of the box lunch is $10, payable at the door. Those wishing to eat should make a reservation by calling 417-255-7940 or emailing FriendsofGarnettLibrary@MissouriState.edu by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.
