Student Spotlight: Megan McCrackin

2022 November 9 by Drew Clark

My favorite thing about MSU-WP is that it makes me feel at home.

Name: Megan McCrackin

Academic Program: Associate of Arts in General Studies

What is your hometown? West Plains, MO

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

I chose to attend Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) to stay close to home and to be able to use my A+ to get two years of my college education paid for. I also had the opportunity to play for the new softball program here, allowing me to play at the collegiate level which I truly love!

How would you describe your experience here?

I would describe my experience here as a blessing from God. I get to stay close to my family, friends, play softball, form new relationships (with teammates and classmates), and make memories while also getting a college education.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

My favorite thing about MSU-WP is that it makes me feel at home. It is truly a blessing to be able to stay in West Plains.

What has been your favorite course?

My favorite course so far has been Fundamentals of Public Speaking with Gary Phillips. It has forced me to get out of my comfort zone and I have become more confident in my public speaking ability.

How have the faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

The faculty and staff here at MSU-WP have helped me become a better student-athlete. They hold me accountable to do everything I need to do to be successful, not only in the classroom but on the field as well.

How did you choose your major?

In all honesty, when I decided to come to MSU-WP I had absolutely no clue what I wanted my major to be. This was mostly because I was struggling to find what career path God was leading me to. I now know that after I get my AAGS here I want to go to cosmetology school to become a cosmetologist and own my own business.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to attend a cosmetology school with hopes to become a cosmetologist and eventually open my own business.
