Summer is a great time to take a class or two at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP).
University officials pointed out the campus offers several courses that could be used by new students to get a jump start on their collegiate career or by current students who come home for the summer and want to pick up a few courses before going back to their college of choice.
There also are several classes for area residents to take just for personal interest or professional development, they added.
How to apply and register
All one needs to do is fill out MSU-WP’s admissions application for non-degree-seeking students then register for a class or two.
Any high school graduate or person 18 years of age or older may apply under this designation. And transcripts are not required. Those applying however, must meet any prerequisites for the class or classes they select.
University officials noted that financial aid is not available to students who are admitted as non-degree-seeking; however, a payment plan is available in two equal installments.
“The process for enrolling in summer classes as a non-degree-seeking student is very simple, but the rewards are great!,” said Melissa Jett, director of admissions. “Class sizes are usually smaller than normal, and you can really focus on the content of your course. And it’s always a great time to get some of those general education classes out of the way!”
Regular registration for the eight-week summer session begins April 22 and continues through June 11. Classes begin June 12.
