“Diving into a topic that is in line with my career goals has been so refreshing…”

Name:  Raigan King

Academic Program: Associate of Arts in General Studies, Associate of Science in Nursing

What is your hometown? West Plains, MO

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains? The opportunities presented here at Missouri State-West Plains fit my goals perfectly along with being financially attainable.

How would you describe your experience here? My experience on campus has been very fulfilling. Any need I have had has been addressed, creating a solid learning environment for me.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains? Having the ability to get to know my peers and professors on a personal level because of the class sizes and flexibility on campus.

What has been your favorite course? And why? My favorite course has been BMS, or Biomedical Science. Diving into a topic that is in line with my career goals has been so refreshing compared to required busy-work from high school.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains? I have become so thankful for my professors. The way they personally take time to get to know students to better help them both on and off campus has been so encouraging.

How did you choose your major? I have known that I’ve wanted to go into nursing since I was in sixth grade on a mission trip to Haiti and got to watch the way those skills can be applied anywhere you are to help everyone around you.

What have you learned at Missouri State-West Plains that will help you succeed in your education, career or life? Personally, just the concept that anything worth having is something worked for. In my case, working towards a career in nursing may not be “easy” by any means, but because it’s worth having, you have to put in the work.

What are your plans after graduation? My plans for after graduation are to start my professional career as a nurse to try and make a difference!
