Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will offer its annual Summer Scholars Academy June 24-28.
The academy is for students entering fifth grade through those who have just completed eighth grade, organizers said. It will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24-27 and from 9 a.m. to noon June 28.
Summer Scholars Academy is an academic enrichment opportunity that offers hands-on courses in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) topics.
Students can participate in classes that feature robotics, nursing, video game design, mathematics, engineering, biology, arts and more, organizers said. The university’s faculty and staff members will teach the classes.
During the final day, representatives from Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield will be on hand to discuss animal conservation and zoology topics, organizers said, adding they will bring a selection of endangered animals for students to see.
The cost is $75 for the first student and $50 for each additional student within the family. To register, visit WP.MissouriState.edu/Workforce.
