Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains? I chose Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) because of the community environment created by faculty and staff along with the wide variety of degree and course offerings.
How would you describe your experience here? MSU-WP has been a great opportunity for me, not only through education but socially as well. Through MSU-WP, I have made friends that will last a lifetime and connections that have helped further me in my education and in my future career.
What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains? One of my favorite things about MSU-WP would be the camaraderie that the staff have. The staff make it a priority that every student here feels welcome and can reach out whenever needed.
What has been your favorite course? And why? My favorite course has been one of the first courses I took here, Student Success (IDS 110). The class not only taught us simple tips and tricks about college and how to make it through college as successfully as possible, but it was also a good ice breaker for just starting college. Through the short eight weeks that we got to experience that class, we all grew to be close friends and would look forward to our classes every Monday and Wednesday.
How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains? The faculty and staff here at MSU-WP are incredibly open and welcoming. They ensure that every student feels as though they can reach out with any questions or concerns. One of the highlights about the faculty and staff here is their willingness to help you in any way possible to make you more successful.
How did you choose your major? It has always been a dream of mine to open my own bakery. The older I got the more I realized how challenging it may be. I chose to major in business to get more background information on how to run, maintain and manage a business in the best way possible.
What have you learned at Missouri State-West Plains that will help you succeed in your education, career or life? The university, as a whole, has taught me the importance of community and how vital it can be to a program/system. Being able and willing to check up on one another and work together to achieve an end goal, all while making the best of it, is one of the key things that the university has taught me.
What are your plans after graduation? After I graduate from MSU-WP, I plan on transferring to MSU in Springfield to complete my bachelor’s degree in business. After I graduate from Springfield, I hope to open my own bakery!
