“The best thing about Missouri State-West Plains is the faculty, in my opinion.”

Name:  Rylie Fletcher

Academic Program: Associate of Science Business

What is your hometown? St. Louis, MO

Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?  I chose to attend Missouri State-West Plains because it was an affordable and great place for me to mature and get a feel for how college life would be.

How would you describe your experience here?  Since being at West Plains, my experience has been positive. Every person I have encountered has been very welcoming and supportive. My two years are almost finished, and I have had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and excel academically and personally.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?  My favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains is how small the class sizes are.

What has been your favorite course? And why?  Economics has been my favorite course so far. Although I have endured some challenges, I am very motivated to master the curriculum.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?  The best thing about Missouri State-West Plains is the faculty, in my opinion. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, from the tutoring lab to the Grizzly Bite cafe.

How did you choose your major?  As of right now I am still deciding on my major, but I am leaning towards finance and the fin-tech route to eventually work at a quant firm.

What have you learned from business department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?  The business department has taught me the importance of mastery. The industry is changing rapidly, and to stand out from the competition you must be ahead. Business has always been interesting to me, and I have started my own research to continue learning.

What are your plans after graduation?  After graduation, I plan to transfer to a four-year university and continue my education in finance. Depending on where my job takes me, my goal is to move out of St. Louis.
