Phlebotomy Technician Training Beginning April 5

The eight-week phlebotomy technician training program begins April 5, 2025.

2025 March 6 by University Communications

Officials with the Office of Workforce Development and Community Education at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will offer an eight-week phlebotomy technician training program beginning April 5, 2025.

The non-credit course will provide the training and clinical experience needed to fill open positions in this field as well as prepare students to take the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam, officials said.

There will be an orientation from 9 a.m. to noon on March 22, 2025, for students enrolling the program. Lecture, lab and clinical instruction will take place on six successive Saturdays starting on April 5, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon; followed by clinical hours at Ozarks Healthcare.

The program offers many benefits:

  • the convenience of short-term weekend classes;
  • specialized training from licensed instructors with professional experience;
  • a small class environment;
  • and many career options upon successful completion.

The training costs $950 per person and includes books, materials and medical scrubs, as well as the costs for a background check and drug test. The training cost also covers the students first attempt at the certification exam.

Tuition assistance may be available.

Applicants must be 16 years or older and pass a criminal background check and drug screening to take the course. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent to take the certification exam.

For more information about the program, contact Trevor Cressman, Director of Workforce Development and Community Education, at 417-255-7788 or trevorcressman@missouristate.edu.
