Don’t Let Finances Stop You: The Finish Line Degree Completion Grant

2025 October 1 by University Communications

Sometimes financial challenges get in the way of finishing your college degree. The Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation (MSLF) created the Finish Line Degree Completion Grant to help students cross that final hurdle and earn their diploma.

What is the Finish Line Grant?

The Finish Line Degree Completion Grant provides up to $1,500 in financial support for Missouri students who are close to completing their degree but face financial barriers. It’s designed to help in two key situations:

  1. You left school with an unpaid balance and want to return to finish your degree.

  2. You’re in your final semester but have already exhausted your federal financial aid.

If your outstanding balance is more than $1,500, MSLF may work directly with your school to reduce the remaining costs and connect with you to discuss possible contributions.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a Missouri resident.

  • Be an undergraduate student who hasn’t yet earned a degree.

  • Have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 12,000 or less on the FAFSA.

  • Meet MSU-WP’s academic progress requirements.

  • Not have received the Finish Line Grant before.

Additional eligibility depends on your situation:

  • Back Balance: You must have completed at least 75% of your credits, stopped out for at least one major term, and plan to re-enroll at an eligible Missouri school.

  • Exhausted Federal Aid: You must be enrolled in your final semester and have certified need for covering direct costs.

How to Apply

  1. Start by getting a degree completion plan from MSU-WP.

  2. Gather documentation of your outstanding balance or proof that you’ve exhausted federal aid.

  3. Visit myscholarshipcentral.org/apply and click Apply Now.

  4. Sign in (or create an account) and complete your application under “Opportunities” → “Grant.”

  5. Submit your application and monitor your account for updates.

Take Action Today

Too many students are just one semester away from finishing their degree. The Finish Line Grant is here to make sure money doesn’t become the reason you stop short of graduation.

If you’re ready to get back on track and complete your degree, the Finish Line Grant could be the support you need to finally reach the finish line. Contact info@moslf.org or call 636-787-2677 for more information.
