A total of 1,997 students are enrolled this fall at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP).
This is an increase of 2.8% from last fall semester. The increases come from continuing, online and dual credit students.
“Enrollment is up this fall, with more continuing, online, and dual credit students choosing to learn with us. Students see real value in the opportunities we provide.” said MSU-WP Chancellor Zora Mulligan.
The focus on creating new programs to attract students to MSU-WP has been a priority in recent years. New academic and student support programs include the TJ Swift House ASCEND Program, music program and the expansion of the online LPN-to-RN bridge nursing program. Grizzly Athletics has also expanded with the additions of Grizzly Esports, Grizzly Softball, Grizzly Baseball and Grizzly Rodeo. The university is also developing a new vet tech program students can enroll in, starting in the 2027 spring semester.
“The creation of new programs allows us to meet emerging workforce needs while giving students more pathways to success,” she said, “Each time we expand our offerings, we open the door for more students to see themselves here.”
New strategic plan begins
With final enrollment numbers in, MSU-WP will shift its focus to the strategic planning process. The strategic plan will create a roadmap of strategic goals and initiatives that the university will focus on to improve growth in enrollment and student success for the West Plains campus.
“Developing a new strategic plan gives us the opportunity to focus on innovative strategies for recruiting and supporting students. By aligning our goals with the needs of today’s learners, we can strengthen enrollment and ensure long-term success for the university,” Chancellor Mulligan said.
The year-long process will include engaging with faculty, staff, students and community partners to shape the university’s goals, strategies and outcomes.
Missouri State Outreach enrollment
In addition to the students enrolled in MSU-WP courses this fall, 82 students are enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s level courses offered locally through the Missouri State University Outreach office.
