“LET’S GO GRIZZLIES!!” was the yell of more than 100 fans of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball team today as they wished team members well during the send off rally to the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Women’s National Volleyball Championship Tournament. Team members were assured of the university and community’s support by Missouri State-West Plains Chancellor Drew Bennett and West Plains Mayor Jack Pahlmann, who presented the team a framed proclamation. Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker continued his tradition of presenting the team with a framed photo and inspirational saying, and Student Government Association (SGA) President Shelby Harris, West Plains, gave each member a T-shirt on behalf of the student body. The Grizzlies, seeded 11th, are slated to leave West Plains Monday afternoon, Nov. 17, for the three-day event, Nov. 20-22, in Casper, Wyo., and will play sixth seeded Salt Lake Community College, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 10 a.m. local time in first-round action. Front row from left are team members Mikala Hicks, Brianna Zebert, Alyssa Aldag, Gabby Edmondson and Susannah Kelley; and Harris. Back row: Grizz (aka Regan Riggs, West Plains); team members Ashley Bishton, Penny Liu, Pulotu Manoa, Breanna Taylor, Zori Curry, Kaili Simmons, Guro Froberg, Head Coach Paula Wiedemann, Strength and Conditioning Coach Keri Elrod and Assistant Coach Briana Walsh; Pahlmann; and Bennett.
