WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Four members of the 2015-16 Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Basketball team have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 16 Team, and three were selected for the All-Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) Team.

All-Region 16 Team selections include sophomores Ngor Barnaba, a 6-foot, 8-inch forward from Rochester, Minnesota, and Terrell Martin-Garcia, a 6-foot, 6-inch forward from London, England; and freshmen Vonny Irvin, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Devonte Campbell, a 6-foot, 6-inch forward from Maple, Ontario, Canada. Barnaba was a first team honoree, and Martin-Garcia, Irvin and Campbell were chosen for the second team.

Barnaba, Campbell and Irvin were selected for the All-MCCAC Team, as well, with Barnaba and Campbell receiving first team honors, and Irvin second team honors. This was the first year the Grizzlies competed in the MCCAC.

Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker was pleased to hear his players received these post-season honors. “I am happy that Ngor made both first teams. He is certainly deserving, and we are proud of him,” Walker said. “I was also happy to see Devonte named to the first team for the MCCAC. He was very high percentage in conference play.

“It’s my belief that, had Terrell been healthy, he’d have made first team All-Region 16 again this year, but we can’t control those things,” Walker continued. “I hope that being named second team will really motivate Devonte and Vonny going into their sophomore years.”

Against Region 16 opponents, Barnaba average 13.1 points and 6.8 rebounds and shot 41 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line. Against MCCAC opponents, he averaged 14 points and 7.8 rebounds and shot 44 percent from the field, 32 percent from 3-point range and 74 percent from the free throw line. Against all opponents this season, he averaged 14.7 points and 7.5 rebounds and shot 47.1 percent from the field and 70.3 percent from the free throw line.

Campbell averaged 13.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game against Region 16 teams. He hit 48 percent of his field goals and 74 percent of his free throws in Region 16 play. Against MCCAC opponents, he averaged 15.1 points, five rebounds and 1.5 assists and shot 56 percent from the field, 33 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line. Overall this season, he averaged 14 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and hit 54 percent of his shots from the field, 36.6 percent of his 3-point attempts and 73.6 percent of his free throws.

Martin-Garcia averaged 6.4 points and seven rebounds and hit 37 percent of his shots from the field and 71 percent of his free throws against Region 16 opponents. Overall for the season, he averaged 11.3 points and 7.4 rebounds a game and hit 46.8 percent from the field and 72.4 percent from the free throw line.

Against Region 16 opponents, Irvin averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds a game and hit 51 percent of his field goal attempts, 21 percent of his 3-point attempts and 56 percent of his free throw attempts. Against MCCAC opponents, he averaged 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals and hit 48 percent of his shots from the field. Overall this season, Irvin averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals a game and shot 46.5 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from 3-point range and 56.4 percent from the charity stripe.

Ronnie Rousseau III of State Fair Community College in Sedalia was named the Region 16 Player of the Year.  Other first team all-region honorees included Gabe Grant, Justas Furmanavicius, Camron Reedus and Jameereo Spain, all of Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff; Montell Goodwin and Daniel Norl of Mineral Area College in Park Hills; Rashad Lindsey of Moberly Area Community College in Moberly; and Clint Robinson, State Fair.

Other second team all-region honorees included Willie Jimerson, State Fair; Yashua Trent, Mineral Area; and Daniel Dzierzawski, Moberly.

Other MCCAC first team honorees included Grant, Furmanavicius and Reedus, all of Three Rivers; Montell Goodwin and Norl, Mineral Area; Rousseau and Robinson, State Fair; and Nate Rigmaiden, St. Louis Community College. Other second team honorees were Three Rivers’ Spain, Mineral Area’s Trent, State Fair’s Jimerson and Davante Harrell of St. Louis.
