LOCAL AUTHOR ROBERT H. (BOB) WILLIAMS, left, has donated several items to the Garnett Library at Missouri State University-West Plains, including books, artifacts and a display case in recent years. His first donation of books was presented in 2014, and a subsequent donation of artifacts, including arrowhead fragments, was given later that same year. These donations have been catalogued and added to the library’s Missouri history collection, according to Director of Library Services Sylvia Kuhlmeier, with Williams above. In 2016, Williams contributed funds toward the purchase of a display case, and at the time this photo was taken earlier this fall, he presented another copy of his book “Billy’s War” to the library’s collection. A Missouri native, Williams is a former rector and career chaplain whose historical novel about the Civil War traces the life and times of his ancestors living in the “border wars” area of Missouri. Williams has said the gifts “have been a labor of love” for him, as he learned from family accounts and state history resources. (Photo provided)
