MEMBERS OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY Honorary Steering Committee at Missouri State University-West Plains put their final “seal of approval” on plans for the university’s Sept. 16 50th Anniversary Celebration by signing this banner, which will be placed inside a time capsule at the event. The celebration will begin at noon at the Smith-London Centennial Bell Tower on Franklin Street just west of the Lybyer Technology Center, and everyone attending will be asked to sign the banner before it is sealed in the capsule. The free celebration will include a short ceremony, picnic lunch, historic photo, and cake, organizers said. Free T-shirts will be handed out to the first 400 people who arrive, and several prizes, including an iPad, will be given away. Signing the banner above are committee members, front row from left, Marvin Fowler, Marvin Looney, Marvin Green, Karyn Vaughan and Bob Manning; back row: West Plains Mayor Jack Pahlmann, David M. Gohn, Mary Sheid and Peggy Kissinger. Other committee members include Carol Silvey, Allison Smith, Tom Marhefka, Dr. Fred Czerwonka and the late West Plains Mayor Joe Paul Evans.
